LYVH. LOVE. LATCH.

HOLISTIC PRENATAL, POSTPARTUM, & NEWBORN CARE

My
Story

I was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the US at the age of 10. From a young age, I knew that I wanted to be an agent for change in healthcare, which led me to explore various paths in health and wellness. Before becoming a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) nurse, I spent nearly a decade working in public health and research, as well as serving as a health educator and coach. In 2011, when I gave birth to my eldest child, I developed a deep appreciation for the profound benefits of postpartum care from older village practices as my mother cared, nurtured and healed me back to health. In addition, while breastfeeding my daughter, my love for breastfeeding ignited as I was surrounded, guided and supported by a circle of women in my "breastfeeding village". I later gave birth to another child, but this time, it a was near fatal and emergently delivering my youngest child prematurely at 27 weeks, our stay in the NICU for three months changed the trajectory of my career in nursing and I decided to switch my specialty to work in the NICU. As a mother of a premature newborn and my experience as a NICU nurse, I realized firsthand how important support and anticipatory guidance is throughout pregnancy, postpartum and the breastfeeding journey.

LYVH (pronounced "liv") was inspired by my four children (Levi, Ylan, Vinh, and Havy) as their names combined form a word that reminds me to live fully, love deeply, and continue learning---beautifully echoing one of my favorite quotes by Mahatma Gandhi: "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." I realized that it was finally time to devote more time to cultivating my passion in birth work with supporting parents to succeed with breastfeeding, healthy birthing, and postpartum healing. I believe that every parent deserves to feel supported, empowered, and deeply seen. Whether you're navigating breastfeeding challenges, preparing for life with a newborn or simply looking for someone to walk with you on this journey-I'm here to offer you a skilled, tailored, culturally sensitive, and deeply respectful system of support and care that is centered around your unique needs and values.

My clinical expertise includes management of low milk supply and oversupply, healing damaged nipples, latch difficulties, pumping techniques, milk storage, flange fitting and troubleshooting, preparing to go back to work, as well as prenatal consults and newborn care support.  When I am not serving other families, I enjoy spending time in nature, listening to music, enjoying a good comedy, practicing yoga, cooking and sharing meals with loved ones, and most of all, making memories with my children.
